Fridge2Cal guide

How to add events from a photo to Google Calendar on iPhone

Fridge2Cal saves reviewed photo events through Apple Calendar. To have those events appear in Google Calendar, connect your Google account to Calendar on the iPhone and choose a writable Google calendar as the default before adding them.

Set up the destination first

  1. In iPhone Settings, go to Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account and add your Google account if it is not already connected.
  2. Make sure Calendars is enabled for that account. Open Apple Calendar and confirm the intended calendar is available.
  3. Return to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar and choose the writable Google calendar you want to receive new events.

These settings follow Apple’s calendar account instructions. On older iOS versions, Calendar may appear directly in Settings. Changing the default affects other apps that use it too; you can change it back after the import.

Scan, review, then check one saved event

  1. Choose the source. Use Camera for paper or Photos for a saved schedule image. For a PDF, first follow the PDF screenshot workflow.
  2. Review the drafts. Correct titles, dates, times, and locations. Remove events you do not want and inspect possible duplicate warnings.
  3. Save one event first. Use the add control on its row. Open Apple Calendar, find that event, and check its calendar name.
  4. Verify Google Calendar. Check the same date in the Google Calendar app or website while signed into the same account. Allow time for account synchronization.
  5. Add the remaining events. Once the destination is right, add the rest of the reviewed drafts and inspect the final dates.

Fridge2Cal does not sign directly into Google or provide its own Google sync service. It writes to the iPhone’s default calendar; the configured account handles synchronization.

If the events do not appear in Google Calendar

A successful save in Fridge2Cal confirms a local Calendar write, not that another device has already received the event. Verify both places before importing a large schedule.

What about Outlook or a shared family calendar?

The same default-calendar principle applies to a writable calendar from an account configured in Apple Calendar. A managed work account may restrict access, and sharing permissions still apply. Installing the Outlook or Google Calendar app alone does not necessarily configure the account in Apple Calendar.

For a family calendar, choose the intended shared calendar as the default and verify one saved event with another member. Fridge2Cal does not create sharing invitations or change account permissions.

Questions before you scan

Does Fridge2Cal have a Google Calendar sign-in?

No. It saves events through Apple Calendar using the iPhone’s default calendar. Google account synchronization is handled by the configured calendar account.

Can I choose the destination inside Fridge2Cal?

Fridge2Cal saves to the default calendar configured on your iPhone. Before importing, open Settings → Apps → Calendar → Default Calendar and choose a writable calendar. A shared calendar must allow you to add events. There is no destination picker inside Fridge2Cal.

Will changing the default move previously saved events?

No. It changes the destination for future saves. Move existing events in Calendar, or undo the import and re-add after setting the intended default.

Review the dates. Then add the events.

Fridge2Cal turns calendar photos into editable drafts on iPhone. Check the App Store for current pricing and compatibility.
