Fridge2Cal guide
How to add a screenshot to your iPhone Calendar
A schedule in Photos is easy to lose. You can turn the dates in that image into calendar events: try the built-in iPhone option for a recognizable event, or import the image into Fridge2Cal to review the detected drafts.

First, try the built-in option for a single event
On a supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled, Visual Intelligence can offer Add to Calendar when you take a screenshot containing event details. The tools shown depend on the image, device, language, region, and software version.
If the option appears, inspect the event details before creating it. If it does not, save the screenshot to Photos and use the import workflow below. See Apple’s Visual Intelligence instructions for availability and controls.
Import a schedule screenshot with Fridge2Cal
- Save the image to Photos. For an image in Messages or email, save the original attachment when possible. If you capture a screenshot, include the date headings and enough detail to read the times.
- Open Fridge2Cal and tap Photos. Select the screenshot from your photo library. This guide uses the Photos picker inside the app; a share-sheet extension is not required.
- Crop without losing context. Keep the month, year, date numbers, and column labels. For a team roster, keep your row plus its headings.
- Review the drafts. Compare each date, start time, end time, title, and location with the source. Delete unwanted events and fix anything uncertain.
- Add to Calendar. Approved events go to your iPhone’s default calendar. Open Calendar afterward and verify the saved events. You can undo events added through Fridge2Cal.
For the full app controls, see how to use Fridge2Cal.
What to check in different screenshots
| Image | Check before saving |
|---|---|
| Work roster | Your shifts only, overnight end dates, and AM/PM. |
| School or sports schedule | Correct year, campus or venue, and all-day versus timed events. |
| Invitation or event flyer | Event time versus doors-open time, complete address, and missing end time. |
| Chat screenshot | Whether “tomorrow” or “next Friday” refers to the message’s date rather than today. |
Illustrative example
A saved message says “Practice tomorrow at 5” but was sent last week. Use the message timestamp to determine the date; do not accept a draft that treats “tomorrow” as relative to the day you import it.
If the screenshot does not produce useful events
Zoom the source before taking a new screenshot, or obtain the original image instead of a compressed copy. Keep one readable section per capture. Review ambiguous dates such as 04/05 against the organizer’s date format and verify time zones for travel or remote events.
Importing an image makes a snapshot of the plan. It does not monitor the chat, website, or roster for later changes. If the organizer offers a live calendar subscription, use that when you need ongoing updates.
Questions before you scan
Can I import a screenshot without taking a new photo?
Yes. Save the screenshot in Photos, open Fridge2Cal, tap Photos, and select it. Review the resulting drafts before adding them.
Does Fridge2Cal automatically monitor my screenshots?
No. You choose the image to import and approve the events. Later changes to the original schedule are not synchronized automatically.
Can the events appear in Google Calendar?
They can if a writable Google calendar is configured in Apple Calendar and selected as the iPhone default before saving. Check the event in Google Calendar afterward; account synchronization is handled by iOS and Google.
Review the dates. Then add the events.
